Started with a simple idea, to uncover and offer well designed, hand-made, hard to find goods made in the borough we love – Brooklyn that we wanted ourselves.
Boroughmakers is a celebration of the handcrafted goods made by local makers right in our neighborhood. One of the most exciting aspects of creating Boroughmakers is the I have gotten to know the innovative makers and artisans who have turned their passion for quality and well-designed goods into a way of life. I am in awe of their focus, resourcefulness and talent.
In this months editorial, “Meet the Makers” Boroughmakers is pleased to take a personal look at Dr. Kristina Ivy, the founder and visionary behind RICA Bath and Body, a Red Hook, Brooklyn company.

Dr. Kristina Ivy is a holistic clinician whose practice specializes in stress reduction. Looking to nature to calm the mind and soothe the body is something Dr. Ivy learned as a little girl growing up in Virginia. For over three generations of women, Dr. Ivy’s family have been making natural beauty remedies by utilizing botanicals grown in the rich Virginian soil around their home and combining them with natural ingredients found in the kitchen.
Kristina continued the traditions of her family using fresh ingredients from the garden and her kitchen to make handmade bath and body recipes. She moved to Brooklyn and has a very successful clinical practice but always was involved in making natural skin care and bath products.
Dr. Ivy decided to share her knowledge and her incredible products and started RICA Body. RICA Body now brings fresh made to order natural bath and body therapies.
