Meet your Brooklyn Boroughmakers: A Trio of Talent is based in Brooklyn, NY and dedicated to presenting local, Brooklyn-made products — fashion, home décor, apothecary, children’s toys, edibles and jewelry — all of the highest possible quality. Started with a simple idea, to uncover and offer well designed, hand-made, and hard to find goods made in the borough we love – Brooklyn that we wanted ourselves.

Boroughmakers is a celebration of the handcrafted goods made by local makers right in our neighborhood. One of the most exciting aspects of creating Boroughmakers is that I have gotten to know the innovative makers and artisans who have turned their passion for quality and well-designed goods into a way of life.  I am in awe of their focus, resourcefulness and talent.

This month, we are going to meet a Trio of Local Makers who for over 5 years have successful collaborated, designed and make beautiful handcrafted women’s’ clothing and jewelry.

Meet Aimee G, Radka Design and Samoy Lenko of TRUNK:

At Boroughmakers, we are always on the look out for local talent and that’s how we found Aimee, Radka and Natasha. We discovered the talents of the TRUNK team as we pass their store every day while going to and from our office.

For the past 5 years, these makers have showcased and sold their fine apparel and jewelry from their wonderfully welcoming industrial store, TRUNK. Located in the heart of DUMBO, Brooklyn at 68 Jay Street, TRUNK is filled with women’s apparel made from the finest fabrics, reflecting simplicity in design while looking beautiful on the body.  Their jewelry is innovative, engaging and each piece is truly a “one of a kind” creation.

One of the trio, Aimee G is a clothing designer and her work is full of color and textures. She has had her own clothing line since 2003. Inspired by art, texture and nature, Aimee says, “My collections are a collaboration of adventure and research”. She also proudly uses only made in America fabrics.

Natasha’s line Samoy Lenko has a common theme that each piece reflects an “elegant simplicity”. She derives her inspiration to create a distinct narrative each season with fabric, drape and texture as her medium. The results are truly amazing and well fitting clothing.

The jewelry collection is designed by Radka. She brought her experience of traditional sewing, crochet and knitting with her to college where she earned a degree in fashion design. During her last semester, she took a jewelry class where she discovered the similarities between thread and fine sterling wire. The forged pieces of Radka’s unique jewelry have blossomed into a dynamic collection. It features groups of distinct shapes and dimensions, but all the work contains the intriguing unions of crochet and metal, lightness and strength.

Natasha, Radka and Aimee @ Trunk are local Brooklyn makers who specialize in producing the highest-quality clothing and jewelry that promise to turn heads and leave you looking your best. Their work reflects as they call it “independent spirit and locally made designs.”

Boroughmakers is honored to celebrate our neighbor’s efforts and to tell the story of these successful and very creative Brooklyn makers. Stop by Trunk, meet these incredible women and shop their art.
