Hey Brooklyn, it’s time to PIG OUT in Red Hook! If you love delicious pork dishes (think: smoked, barbecued, pit roasted…yummm) Sixpoint Brews, local wines and ciders, live music, and family fun, then this is the event for you! Food Karma Projects is happy to announce the 5th Annual Pig Island™, returning to the beautiful Erie Basin Park in Red Hook on Saturday, September 6th from 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Showcasing the best of New York State local farmers, chefs, brewers, “real”cider makers and vintners all dedicated to bringing home the bacon, Pig Island returns with 20+ chefs from all five boroughs cooking up 80+ hogs sourced from Flying Pigs Farm. All inclusive tickets to the event are $75 each, children under 12 are free, and a portion of the proceeds will go toward Added Value Farm. Added Value is a non-profit organization in Red Hook which focuses on youth leadership development by operating a sustainable urban farming enterprise.
