The temperatures are dropping this week and so is any enthusiasm to get out and be productive around town.  This is the perfect time to stay in and snuggle up with a good book!  Every neighborhood has their own signature bookstore.  Stop by yours or try a new one to stock up on some good reads!

Greenlight Books– 686 Fulton Street, Brooklyn NY 11217

A very active bookstore on Fulton Street.  They host children’s story times, book groups, guest authors and even a literary humor story hour, ‘Steamboat’.  Their staff pick section is a favorite among store frequenters.

Community Bookstore– 143 Seventh Ave, Brooklyn NY 11215

The oldest bookstore in Brooklyn, and one of the oldest in New York City!  This gem is famous for their selection of children’s books, quirky charm, lovely outdoor patio, and in store cat named Tiny.

WORD– 126 Franklin Ave, Brooklyn NY 11222

WORD makes celebrating literature fun by hosting creative events like a Moby Dick-a-thon.  They have active book clubs and wonderful children’s activities.  Great displays make shopping easy and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Book Court- 163 Court Street, Brooklyn NY 11201

This adorable book store on Court Street is home to many local authors and poets.  Their event series of readings is very popular.  This store sells great niche books, classics, and featured new releases.  They also have a strong children’s section.  Best sellers are always 30% off!

Book Thug Nation- 100 North 3rd Street, Brooklyn 11211

Book Thug Nation houses a wide variety of used books.  From sci-fi to mystery to poetry to drama, readers can score awesome unique finds.  BTN hosts movie nights, author readings, and neighborhood meetings.
