April Showers Bring…The Greenest Block in Brooklyn!
It’s time to start thinking green! Do you, your neighborhood or place of business have a knack for streetscaping? The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is gearing up their “Greenest Block in Brooklyn” Contest. The purpose of the Contest is to promote streetscape gardening, tree stewardship, and community development in the borough of Brooklyn through block and merchant associations and other community groups. First place receives a check for $300, and finalists will receive $100-$200. Further award categories include: Best Window Box, Greenest Storefront, Best Street Tree Beds, Best Community Garden Streetscape, and the National Grid Leadership in Sustainable Practices Award. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of BBG’s Children’s Garden, this year’s contest will also offer a special award for Best Children’s Gardening Project. These winners will receive cash prizes or gardening tools, and all participants will be awarded a recognition certificate. The deadline for registration is June 1st. To register click here- INFO
