1. The Touch Tank– The Brooklyn Children’s Museum is now featuring The Touch Tank, an interactive feature where children can touch a starfish, a horseshoe crab and a sea snail. Kids can also learn about the ocean and the diverse creatures who make up the population. Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, 11:30 am–12:30 pm and 2:30–3:30 pm until Sunday, Aug. 31. Website.
2. Take a Carousel Ride– Prospect Park Carousel. The Carousel is located at the Children’s Corner, just inside the Willink entrance (intersection of Ocean and Flatbush Avenues and Empire Boulevard). $2 per ride (12pm-6pm). OR Jane’s Carousel, DUMBO. Also $2 per ride, located between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges in Brooklyn Bridge Park (11am-7pm).
3. Summer Series Puppet T heater– Puppetworks, Park Slope. Prokofiev’s orchestral adventure including Peter & the Wolf, The Frog Prince, The comedians and The Ugly Duckling. Recommended for children 3 years and older. Total running time is approximately one hour. 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm. 338 Sixth Ave. at Fourth Street. Website
4. Governor’s Island and Ferry Ride– Pack the kids scooters or bikes and hope on the East River Ferry from Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Spend the day enjoying the playgrounds, food trucks, hammock park, Brooklyn Public Library Pop Up Library, and so much more. For ferry info, click here- website
5. Brooklyn Cyclones– Catch a home game Saturday night as The Brooklyn Cyclones match up against The Vermont Lake Monsters at 6pm. MCU Park. Website
