It’s the nation’s oldest Memorial Day Parade, and it’s happening in Bay Ridge! Brooklyn has hosted a Memorial Day Parade since the days before it became a part of New York City in 1898. Once taking place on Eastern Parkway, the parade moved to Bay Ridge 22 years ago. This year’s parade will be hosted by United Military Veterans of Kings County. It will honor not only the veterans, but their families as well. All veterans are invited to march, they do not need to belong to an organization such as American Legion, all are welcome! The Gold Star Mothers, who lost their children at war, will serve as the marshals for the parade. The parade will start at 11am on 3rd Ave and 87th Street and will end at John Paul Jones Park on 101st Street, where a post parade ceremony will take place.
