Sandy hit DUMBO hard in October 2012, and some businesses are still trying to recover. The iconic waterfront restaurant, The River Cafe, is now scheduled to finally reopen their doors on February 1st, with a new mouth watering menu. The will also unveil their brand new $76,000 Steinway piano, as their last piano was destroyed in the flood. Owner Buzzy O’Keefe had a goal of reopening on the anniversary of Sandy this year. The opening date was pushed back to before Christmas, and then was pushed back again to February 1st. Chef Brad Steelman is outfitted with a brand new kitchen, and will be creating new seasonal American fare dishes, which is what the restaurant is best known for. New menu items include crispy oysters wrapped in salmon with caviar and pheasant with chestnut stuffing. We are sure it will be worth the wait!
