SantaCon, the event where adults dress up like Santa and go cavorting around to different watering holes, hits the streets of Manhattan tomorrow! Last year, SantaCon Manhattan and SantaCon Brooklyn fell on the same day. This year, however, Brooklyn’s event will be postponed until next weekend, in order to accommodate Santa’s desiring to party in both boroughs. At 2pm, on Saturday December 21st, the event will kick off at Alice’s Arbor (on the corner of Fulton and Classon). Participants are encouraged to embrace the true meaning of the holiday by bringing an unwrapped toy to donate to the “Dear Santa” Toy Drive, benefiting local homeless children. Participants are also encouraged to bring cash to help keep the drinks flowing faster. The event website spells out friendly rules for the Santas partaking, to make sure they are not reaking havoc on the hosting neighborhoods. The NYPD are also setting some ground rules for the hosting bars. They are encouraging the staff to not serve Santa’s wearing fake bears, so they can identify an individual better if there is an altercation. The route will end at Franklin Park in Crown Heights.
