Brooklyn TKTS To Start Selling Tickets to BK Theaters

NBC News -- Theatrical Stage Employees Union Strike

In the mood for a show, but don’t feel like making the trek into Manhattan? Now, it’s even easier to check out a local show instead.

The Theatre Development Fund, which runs TKTS, recently announced that their Brooklyn booth will now sell tickets to shows at Brooklyn theaters, such as the Irondale Ensemble Project and American Opera Projects. Previously, the booth only offered tickets to Manhattan shows.

However, don’t expect a discount on Brooklyn theater tickets, which are already much more reasonably priced than their Broadway counterparts. TKTS does not offer discounts on tickets under $30, and many Brooklyn shows are priced below that.

The Brooklyn TKTS office is located at 1 MetroTech Center, at the corner of Jay Street and Myrtle Avenue. It is open 11am-6pm Tuesday-Saturday.

What do you think, readers? Will this addition to the TKTS line-up make you more likely to check out a Brooklyn show? What’s your favorite Brooklyn theater? Let us know in the comments!
