Sweat before the Sweets

December 8th, 9am- Kick your holiday cheer into full throttle with this fun and festive 4 mile run in Prospect Park.  The entry fee is $55, and registration closes at 11:45pm on December 2nd.  Not only will you receive an awesome tech long sleeve shirt, bells for your sneaks, entry into the raffle, and bagels and hot cocoa after the race, but more importantly, a percentage of your registration fee will go toward the NYRR Youth Programs.  Also, NYRR will be hosting a toy drive the morning of the race, so feel free to stop by with an unwrapped, new, non-violent toy, even if you aren’t running in the race.  For more information- click here:


Shop ‘til you drop

Gifted, A Holiday Market- Saturdays and Sundays November 24-December 23; 10am – 6pm

Snag the coolest and most unique gifts for everyone on your list at Gifted, A Holiday Market, presented by Brooklyn Flea.  Located at the former Williamsburg Savings Bank, this beautiful setting will put you in the holiday spirit as you peruse over 100 vendors on three floors.  Expect to find vintage, handmade, art, and delicious edible gifts.  For more information- click here:


Oprah’s Favorite Things in Brooklyn

Dyker Heights Christmas Light Show

83rd 86th Streets between 11th and 12th

Now until January, 5pm-9pm

Over the top, jaw dropping, wonderfully bright, they don’t call it “The Miracle Mile” for nothin’!  Bring your hot cocoa and prepare to be amazed by the thousands of Christmas lights and decorations that the good people of Dyker Heights prepare each year.  Guided tours available-

Meet the Holiday: Let’s Celebrate Hanukkah!

December 8th and 9th, 2:30pm- Brooklyn Children’s Museum

Children will learn about the Hanukkah holiday and discover the ways it is celebrated around the world.  They will also make a Hanukkah inspired craft to take home!


St. Nicholas Day

December 8th and 9th, 2:30pm- Brooklyn Children’s Museum

Learn the story of jolly old St. Nick and leave with a shoe full of goodies after touring the new exhibit, Global Shoes!


Jewish Children’s Museum’s Chanukah DeLight!

December 9-16th, 10am

Join the Jewish Children’s Museum in celebrating Chanukah!  Watch Dancing Djinn’s fire spinning performance, decorate your own donut, enjoy a deep fried cookie demonstration, and don’t miss the grand menorah lighting!
